Day-by-day trips, in the order someone actually travelled them.

Not a list of places — an order.

City walks today; road trips and park days next. goWhere decides what to see, in what sequence and at what hour — bridges early, overlooks at sunset, one direction, no doubling back. Downloaded once, it works with the phone in airplane mode.

This is the first screen of the app, word for word.

01 — What it does

Anyone can hand you 200 places. goWhere hands you the order to travel them in.

Pick what you want to see on the map. The engine clusters your picks into days, orders each day so you never double back on yourself, and anchors the light-sensitive stops — observation decks and ferries at dusk, bridges and canyon rims in the morning.

Each stop carries a short written guide: what to do, what to look for, a little history, and the one thing that lands hardest. Every entry is written by hand and checked against a primary source.

Feature 01

One direction, no doubling back

A route is a promise about your day. Each day flows one way — through a city on foot, or along a highway between towns — and can end on a sunset stop for a golden-hour finale. The app tells you exactly what that finale costs in distance.

  • Shortest route, or the order you picked
  • Sunset spots anchored to the end of the day
  • Every day shows its distance before you set off

Feature 02

Days that actually fit

Say how many days you have, or let the app decide. It clusters your stops geographically, marks a day tight when it fits on paper but not in real hours, and refuses to pretend three days of travelling is two.

  • Automatic day split, or a number you choose
  • Press and hold a stop to move it to another day
  • See what the move does to both days' distance

Feature 03

Works with the phone in airplane mode

Maps, stops and guide text live on your device. Download the guide once — the app tells you the size in megabytes first — and then there is no signal to lose, no roaming bill, and no loading spinner in the middle of a street.

  • Offline map tiles, downloaded per guide
  • Stops, routes and guides work even before the map lands
  • Nothing leaves the phone — there is no server to leave to

04

Your picks or the engine's

Let it order the day (“Shortest walk”), or keep it as “The order I picked”. Either way the result stays editable.

05

Filters that don't surprise you

★ Top sights · Everything, your own two lists, and 10 interests: Iconic, Great views, Photo spots, History, Art & museums, Architecture, Local vibe, Food & markets, Parks & nature, Film & TV.

06

♥ My list & ✓ Been

Two marks on any place, independent of each other: want to go, and been there. Filter the map by either, hide the places you have already seen, or add your whole list to the route in one go. Kept on the phone.

07

Day length and tight days

Set how long a day may run, or the number of days to finish in. A day that fits on paper but not in real hours is marked tight; a plan that cannot fit says so instead of pretending.

08

Subway + walking

Long legs get ridden instead of walked. The app counts the hops and says plainly that it has no timetable.

09

List or map, one tap

The same day, two views. Tap any stop in either one to read its guide. No location tracking — the map shows the places, not you.

10

Hand it to Google Maps

Open any day as a walking or transit route when you want turn-by-turn directions.

11

Saved routes, on this phone

Save a route and it waits on the device, per city, up to fifty. No cloud, because there is no account to hang one on.

12

Picks up where you left off

Close the app mid-plan and it comes back with your stops and settings — “Picked up your last route · 7 stops” — with Start fresh one tap away.

04 — What a stop says

Every place is written, not scored.

Four short sections per stop: what to do, what to notice, the history, and the thing that lands hardest. No star ratings, no review counts — those tell you how popular a place is, not what to do when you get there.

Each entry carries its sources, and the date it was last verified. The card on the right is the app's own entry, unedited.

Battery/Harbor · free · 60 min

Brooklyn Bridge

The skyline opens step by step as you walk.

What to do

Walk the raised wooden promenade from Manhattan toward Brooklyn, early. Stop at the first granite tower and look back — the skyline assembles itself behind you.

What to notice

Go before 8 am for soft light and a near-empty walkway; by midday it's a slow-moving crowd. Pedestrians and bikes are separated now, but stay in your lane.

History

Finished in 1883 as the world's longest suspension bridge. Designer John Roebling died before construction began; his son Washington was paralyzed by it; Emily Roebling carried the project to the finish.

Why it hits

Neo-gothic stone towers, a fan of steel cables, and the skyline revealing a little more of itself with every step — the classic New York walk, and it's free.

08 — Questions

Before you download

Do I need an account?+

No, and there isn't one to make. Purchases live in your App Store (or Google Play) account, so “restore purchases” works through the store. Nothing about you is stored anywhere else.

Does it really work with no signal?+

Yes. Download a guide before you fly and the map, the stops, the guide text and your saved routes all work in airplane mode. The app shows the download size in megabytes up front.

Can a place pay to be included?+

No. There are no ads and no sponsored entries. Places are chosen and written up by hand, and there is no mechanism for anyone to buy their way in.

Can I change the route it builds?+

All of it. Pick the stops yourself, keep your own order, set the number of days, move a stop to another day, or switch between walking and subway — the app shows what each choice costs in distance.

Where does my route get saved?+

On the phone, filed under the city it belongs to. Up to fifty routes. Nothing syncs, because nothing is uploaded.

Which guide is next?+

46 are in preparation and visible in the app as grey dots under “not ready yet” — city walks, road trips and park days. They light up as they are finished, and if you own every guide, they simply appear.
